General Information
The ESEAS-meetings were held held in Istanbul 11-13 November, 2002. The Third meeting of the ESEAS
Technical Committee and the Kick-off meeting of the ESEAS Reseach Infrastructure Project
were held in conjunction on 11-12 November, 2002. The Third ESEAS Governing Board meeting took place subsequently on the 13 November, 2002.
The meetings took place at Crystal Hotel, Istanbul, Turkey.

coordinator of the
ESEAS-RI
ESEAS-RI project and the
chair of the
ESEAS TEC. The ESEAS GB meeting was
jointly organised by the chair of the ESEAS GB, the
chair of the
ESEAS TEC, and the
director of the ESEAS CB.

The Programme
- 11-12 November: ESEAS-RI Kick-off meeting and the Third Meeting of the ESEAS Technical Committee

- 1st Day, Monday 11 November
- 09:00-13:00: Overview of the project (ESEAS-RI Kick-off with presentations
by the Coordinator and the WP leaders)
- 14:30-18:00: ESEAS-RI Workplan (For each WP, presentations from all
contributors to the WP with special emphasis on the work in the
first six months.)
- Welcome cocktail in the evening
- 2nd Day, Tuesday 12 November
- 09:00-12:30: ESEAS-RI Workplan (continued)
- 14:30-18:00: ESEAS TEC meeting (ESEAS-RI Scientific Advisory)
- 13 November: Third Meeting of the ESEAS Governing Board (for GB members)

Guided City Tour in Istanbul
A guided city tour to Istanbul was arranged on Sunday, 10 November
between 12.30 - 18.00. The tour included museums and
historical places and was very positively received by the more than 15 participantes (see the
Group Picture from Guided Tour).

Facilities for Presentations in the Meeting Room
- Overhead projector.
- Laptop with
projector equipments, which allows presentations by
Power Point (Microsoft Office 2000). (CDrom were for instance enough for a
presentation.)

Hotel Reservation, Prices and Payment
The reservation for hotel rooms were done by the participants by
sending an e-mail to the agency.
The prices for rooms at Crystal Hotel were:
- Single: 55 US$/day
- Double: 80 US$/day
- The price included:
- Breakfast
- Hotel's additional facilities (Pool, Sauna, etc.)
- Meeting room
- Coffee breaks twice a day

How to Reach the Place
A shuttle service between the airport and Crystal Hotel was organised by the Agency. There were also two other alternatives:
- Take a taxi from the airport to Crystal Hotel. This costs about 20.000.000, - TL
- Go by a shuttle (Havas Services) from the airport to Taksim (Havas last station on this route). This is a
non-stop service. You can
use this shuttle from 06 a.m. to 11 p.m. for every half an hour and the
price is 5.000.000,- TL. From the last station (Taksim) to the Crystal Hotel you
can either walk for 3-4 min. or take a taxi (price approx. 3.000.000,- TL).
