Meetings and activities

The schedule below is given in reverse chronological order.

• The Eight ESEAS Governing Board meeting took place at the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO, Paris 6-7 May, 2008 hosted by Thorkild Aarup. The meeting was held subsequent to the ESEAS Workshop, see here. The workshop was attended by the Executive Secretary of IOC, Patricio Bernal. • The Seventh ESEAS Governing Board meeting took place at the Apollonia Beach Hotel, Cyprus 5-6 October, 2006. Per Knudsen, Chair ESEAS opened the meeting and reported Chairman work. Bente-Lilja Bye, Director ESEAS CB has summarized Central Bureau work in the past year. Francois Gerard, Chair I-GOOS and Hans Dahlin, Director EuroGOSS are invited to the meeting to talk about ESEAS as operator for GOOS (.ppt) and EuroGOOS Initiatives (.ppt).

• The Sixth ESEAS Governing Board meeting took place at the Art Hotel, Split 7-8 October, 2005. Representatives from Russia and France had been invited and attended the meeting as observers.
  
  
• An additional meeting to The Fifth ESEAS Governing Board meeting took place on 10 June 2005 in Paris. The agenda for the meeting is available here. • The Fifth ESEAS Governing Board meeting took place on 5 November 2004 in Malta. The meeting was held subsequent to the ESEAS Workshop and the ESEAS-RI Project Team. Full information on the meetings can be found on the meetings web pages.

  Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Plag as an external expert gave an evaluation of ESEAS as en pilot project for the period 2001-2004. The full assessment report (.pdf) and presentation are available. ESEAS Tech Chair Dr. Richard Bingley gave a report on the status of The Technical Committee (TEC) (.ppt).

  Two applications for ESEAS membership were received from University of Malta, IOI-Malta Operational Centre and Vilnius Gedeminas Technical University, Geodetic Institute. They are unanimously accepted as new members of ESEAS.

• The Fourth ESEAS Governing Board meeting took place 7 November 2003 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The meeting was held subsequent to the ESEAS-RI Project Team meeting and several ESEAS-RI Workpackage Meetings. • The Third ESEAS Governing Board meeting took place 13 November 2002 in Istanbul, Turkey. The meeting was held subsequent to the ESEAS-RI kick-off meeting and the Third Meeting of the ESEAS Technical Committee. The latter two meetings were held in conjunction on 11-12 November 2002. • The Second ESEAS Governing Board meeting took place on 21 September 2001 in Dubrovnik in conjunction with the Final EOSS Workshop (see next item). The following documents related to the second GB meeting are available:

• The Final EOSS Workshop was held on 19-21 September in Dubrovnik, Croatia. More information on this meeting is available at http://www.dhi.tel.hr/cost40. • The First ESEAS Governing Board meeting was held on 5-6 July 2001 in Koblenz, Germany. The meeting took place at the German Federal Institute of Hydrology located in Koblenz, Germany. The following documents related to the GB meeting are available:
